Chestnuts in Cuneo

If you like Festivals and Fairs then Cuneo could be a great place to visit. The biggest is the Summer Music Festival beginning in June. There’s lots of different music and bands. In late September there is a celebration of St Michael Archangel who is the patron saint of Cuneo. In mid-October you can enjoy the national Chestnut fair of Cuneo which lasts for 4 days. There are just loads of things to see, taste, and smell. The stallholders are chosen by a team of experts to ensure the goods on offer are of the highest standard.
There are also taste workshops where you learn how to really appreciate the wonderful aromas of the goods. You can even take part in the teaching farm and get to know the farm animals, wonderful orchards and vegetable gardens. Sample the chestnuts, beans and peppers in Cuneo and savour the leeks from Cervre, the best meat from Piedmont herds and the myriad taste of mountain flavours. The speciality of Cuneo is a chocolate called Cuneesi al rhum make sure to taste this delicious treat. Cuneo is definitely a trip for the gastronomes amongst us.
The town square has a big market held outdoors in the square on Tuesday mornings. There is such a wonderful atmosphere here you can’t avoid becoming a part of it. The main street of Cuneo has line upon line of shops and if you like people watching this is the place you want to be. There’s never a dull moment in Cuneo.
